Simple Count Formula

Here is a very simple excel formula that will help you count various items in your spreadsheet.

Using the table below, I want to count how many of the top 10 players are first basemen?

Entering the formula =COUNTIF(C1:C20,"1B") into a empty cell tells Excel to look in cells C1 through C20 and count the number of times it sees “1B” or First Base.
